FAQ – laser tattoo removal

Laser tattoo removal provides a permanent and effective solution for the removal of unwanted tattoos. Laser provides an effective and convenient alternative to traditional tattoo removal methods with the added benefit of reduced post treatment recovery.

Tattoo removal involves a brief, yet powerful pulse of energy to selectively target tattoo ink situated within the dermis. The laser energy shatters the tattoo ink into tiny fragments, enabling the body’s white blood cells to consume and discard the tattoo ink.
Tattoo removal is recognised as a routine and effective treatment for the removal or fading of unwanted tattoos. Laser is particularly effective on older tattoos that have started to fade naturally, or on tattoos located in areas with high blood circulation. Cosmetic tattoos tend to be removed more easily than traditional tattoos, however due to the metallic nature of cosmetic ink, colour changes post treatment are difficult to predict. Tattoo removal is suitable for both males and females, and may be applied to most areas of the face and body.
Laser and light-based treatments have been confidently used for many years for a variety of medical and cosmetic procedures.
Clients may experience moderate discomfort during their initial tattoo removal treatments. Epidermal cooling is provided to ensure safe, effective treatment and to maximise client comfort. If required, topical anesthetic may be used, and is beneficial in the treatment of large areas. The treated area will be slightly swollen post treatment, which may persist for a few hours to a few days. Pinpoint bleeds, blisters and itchiness may occur, especially in the treatment of recent or young tattoos. Typically, no downtime is required for this treatment.
