Anti-aging Wrinkle Injections
Anti-aging treatments are a simple, non-surgical method of smoothing lines and wrinkles.
When injected into the muscle the relaxing effect generally lasts for around three to five months. Many patients find that after a few treatments the effect lasts longer with follow-up treatment required less frequently.
Injectable muscle relaxants works by relaxing the wrinkle-causing muscles that cause people to frown or squint, creating an improved appearance. Once the muscle is relaxed, it is difficult to make the undesirable facial expression. Cosmetic injections gradually smooth wrinkles and prevent them from forming. After facial injections it takes 3 to 5 days for the treatment to begin taking effect and around 7-14 days to see the full effect. The effects of this anti-aging treatment can last up to 6 months.
Muscle relaxing injections can be used to reshape the brow for browlift, to lift the corners of the mouth, increase lip pout, reduce chin dimpling, firm the jawline and rejuvenate the neck.
Dermal Fillers & Lip Enhancement
Dermal fillers help restore the skin’s volume loss and wrinkles.
Dermal Fillers are used in procedures, which involve injecting a substance into the skin in order to plump-up the area being treated. Injectable fillers fill out and smooth wrinkles. The areas most frequently treated with injectable fillers include nasal furrows (naso-labialfolds), deep smile lines, lip borders and lip bow (marionette lines). Treatments usually last from 6 to 12 months and normal activities can generally be resumed immediately following facial injections. Results often last well beyond the natural breakdown of the injected product due to the stimulation of natural collagen production resulting from the procedure. Administration of these fillers is often painless due to the use of regional anaesthetic blocks.
Facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear as the underlying collagen and elastin fibres begin to break down. While this breakdown is part of the natural aging process, it can also result from weight loss, sun damage, smoking, illness, and excessive squinting, frowning and smiling. Cosmetic dermal fillers restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
Dermal fillers are now commonly used to create cheek fullness, lift the brow, reshape the nasal and chin profile and reduce the hollowing under the eyes (tear trough). They are also used to treat acne scarring with great effect.
Lips and Mouth
When injected just below the surface of the skin, it adds volume to the lips, revitalising and enhancing the natural look of the mouth as well as smoothing unwanted lines and wrinkles around the mouth, chin and cheek areas.
General
Side effects of these wrinkle treatments are rare, almost always temporary and localised to the area of treatment. The different types of cosmetic treatments have different side effects, however in general possible side effects include swelling, pain, bruising or redness at the injection site.
Both types of cosmetic injection are available only from a medical practitioner. Dr Vella will help you to make decisions based on your age, skin condition, expectation and overall health.
